Care for Creation Yes, But Why is the Vatican Backing Climate Change
Theory?
NEW YORK, May 24, 2007 (LifeSiteNews.com) - On May 10, Archbishop Celestino
Migliore, the Vatican's representative at the United Nations, addressed the
Economic and Social Council of the UN on the hot topic of climate change. His
comments were disturbing to many since he seemed to indicate the Vatican was
taking sides in the contentious debate around the causes of climate change.
Furthermore, by failing to clarify that the Vatican does not support population
control as a means to address global warming his use of the terminology employed
by groups advocating population control as the primary solution to avert
disaster is also raising eyebrows.
Archbishop Migliore stated, "The scientific evidence for global warming and for
humanity's role in the increase of greenhouse gasses becomes ever more
unimpeachable . . . and such activity has a profound relevance, not just for the
environment, but in ethical, economic, social and political terms as well."
While debate among climate scientists rages about the human contribution to
climate change and global warming, many are concerned that the Vatican
ambassador has chosen to take sides on this controversial issue.
A few months ago the Evangelical leadership of the United States ventured into
similar territory when the National Association of Evangelicals (NAE) published
the Evangelical Climate Initiative. The statement claimed that "climate change"
is "human-induced" and would result in the deaths of "millions of people…most of
them our poorest global neighbors," through climatological disasters such as
hurricane Katrina.Prominent Evangelical spokesmen, including Focus on the Family
founder Dr. James Dobson, and the Southern Baptist Convention's Richard Land
called on the NAE to back down from its controversial stand "We believe there
should be room for Bible-believing evangelicals to disagree about the cause,
severity and solutions to the global warming issue . . . Global warming is not a
consensus issue, and our love for the Creator and respect for His creation does
not require us to take a position," Dobson, Land and others wrote. In language
that could be equally addressed to the Vatican, Dobson told the NAE that certain
individuals "are using the global warming controversy to shift the emphasis away
from the great moral issues of our time, notably the sanctity of human life, the
integrity of marriage and the teaching of sexual abstinence and morality to our
children."
Another concerning comment in the Archbishop's address to the UN was a glowing
reference to "sustainable development", UN lingo which has long been associated
with population control. "There is still time to use technology and education
to promote universally sustainable development before it is too late," he
concluded. Those in the pro-life community who have been following
developments at the United Nations for the past decade are well acquainted with
the language employed by Archbishop Migliore. It is the same as that which has
been spouted by those seeking to force population control on developing nations
by inciting fear of climate disaster and false promises of prosperity with from
depopulation. Joan Veon, a veteran UN expert who has reported on about 100
United Nations conferences explained what UN policy-makers mean when they use
the term sustainable development. In 1992 during the UN World Summit on
Sustainable Development Veon observed: "Sustainable development basically says
there are too many people on the planet, that we must reduce the population."
Not only UN experts but also national leaders have admitted publicly that
population control lies at the heart of plans to combat global warming.
Last month China boasted that its one-child policy, which has been criticized by
many nations for including forced abortion and sterilization, had reduced
greenhouse gases. Speaking at a meeting in Oslo on the UN's Kyoto Protocol, Hu
Tao of China's State Environmental Protection Administration said the one-child
population control policy has slowed "global warming" by limiting the population
to 1.3 billion. "This has reduced greenhouse gas emissions," he said. In 2004
Russian presidential economic advisor Andrei Illarionov called the Kyoto
Protocol - a UN sponsored treaty to reduce greenhouse gases - an "undeclared war
against Russia" since it required depopulation. Quoting a British team of
scientists and government officials Illarionov said, "As long as you reduce your
population, you can meet the Kyoto Protocol requirements." Recently population
control advocates have become more open about their agenda. A report published
May 7 by the Optimum Population Trust declared that the best "carbon-offset
strategy" was to reduce the number of human beings and thus defeat the "global
warming" phenomenon. "Population limitation should therefore be seen as the most
cost-effective carbon offsetting strategy available to individuals and nations,"
read the report, A Population-Based Climate Strategy. "The most effective
personal climate change strategy is limiting the number of children one has,"
the report says. "The most effective national and global climate change strategy
is limiting the size of the population."
The stance of most of the pro-life movement regarding the environment was
recently expressed by Czech President Vaclav Klaus in March of this year. "All
of us are very much in favour of maximum environmental protection and protection
of nature," he said in an interview with the Cato Institute. "But it has
nothing in common with environmentalism, which is ideological and practically
attacking our freedom." Environmentalism is, he said "a way of introducing new
forms of statism, new forms of masterminding human society from above."
Should the Vatican wish to get into the game of prediction of man-made climate
disasters perhaps they should revisit Biblical interpretations of natural
disasters resulting from the sinfulness of mankind. The Biblical account of
Noah's Ark describes the whole known population of the earth being drowned in a
flood except for Noah and his family, who were faithful to God. To say nothing
of the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, the flood was caused, teaches the
Church, not by global warming, but by global sinning.

Global Warming Is Coming
A careful look at global warming, as a topic, shows that there is a great deal
of disagreement about the facts and substance of climate change.
Global warming has occurred (about 1 degree net in the last century according to
the very enviro-advocates who push this stuff. The range I have read is disputed
between
0.4-0.8 °C or 0.72-1.44 °F).
Prior temps were not recorded so we have little more in historic records. Gee, a
whole one degree in the last 100 years? How much did the temperature fluctuate
in your backyard just last night? 10, 20, 30, 40 degrees?
During the past several years, more than 17,100 basic and applied American
scientists, two-thirds with advanced degrees, have signed the Global Warming
Petition cautioning against global warming alarmism – a petition compiled with
the lead and assistance of former National Academy of Sciences (NAS) president
and President Emeritus, Rockefeller University- Dr. Frederick Seitz.
Seitz tells us that the verified signatures of those signers who noted their
field of expertise on their submission form include 2,660 physicists,
geophysicists, climatologists, meteorologists, oceanographers, and environmental
scientists who are especially well qualified to evaluate the effects of carbon
dioxide on the Earth's atmosphere and climate. The petition also include 5,017
scientists whose fields of specialization in chemistry, biochemistry, biology,
and other life sciences make them especially well qualified to evaluate the
effects of carbon dioxide upon the Earth's plant and animal life.
Would you like some facts suggesting that humans are not responsible for the
current very small change in temperature? Most of the global temperature
increase of the last 100 years occurred before most of the man-made CO2 was
produced. Of human-produced Carbon Dioxide (CO2), human impact on global
temperature may be as little as 1% of that one degree increase. CO2 in the
atmosphere is thought to be the biggest contributor to temperature change, yet
do the enviro-police mention the truth that 97% of atmospheric CO2 is from
volcanoes? Its known that sunspot activity is one of the larger influencers of
global temp changes. Do you recall that some 30 years ago we were told global
temperatures had actually been dropping since 1945, and scientists warned of
"another Ice-Age"? Temps are cyclic overtime as many periods of warmer/colder
temps are noted in historic literature and maps.
The Bible does, in fact, mention a form of "global warming."
Zephaniah 3:8 Therefore wait ye upon me, saith the LORD, until the day that I
rise up to the prey: for my determination is to gather the nations, that I may
assemble the kingdoms, to pour upon them mine indignation, even all my fierce
anger: for all the earth shall be devoured with the fire of my jealousy.

The seven last plagues occur during the last year of earth’s history. Global
warming seems to truly occur during the fourth plague as described in
Revelation 16:8,9: “And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun; and
power was given unto him to scorch men with fire. And men were scorched with
great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, which hath power over these plagues:
and they repented not to give him glory.”

Thousands of Chinese Peasants Riot over Brutal Birth Control Campaign

(LifeSiteNews.com) – Villagers in southwest China erupted into violence after
enduring two intense months of ruinous fines, mandated health checks for women
followed by coerced abortions and sterilisations, confiscation of property and
destruction of their homes for violating the one-child policy. The past four
days have seen massive unrest in the autonomous Guangxi region, the New York
Times reports, where native villagers and visitors say thousands of rioters
enraged over the stepped-up population control measures have destroyed
government offices, overturned vehicles, and clashed with police forces. In
Bobai County, witnesses described one assault launched by thousands of peasants
upon the government offices of Shapi Township. Villagers smashed through the
wall surrounding the government complex, and then sacked the offices, smashing
computers and destroying documents, before setting the building afire. Accounts
give conflicting reports of deaths and injuries in the battle and ensuing clash
with riot police, but some assert as many as five people have been killed,
including three officials responsible for enforcing the harsh measures.
Officials had imposed an unbearable "social child-raising fee" that
retroactively punished any one-child policy violators since 1980 starting at 500
yuan ($65 US) to as ruinously high as 70,000 yuan ($9000 US). Witnesses said
officials sent out “family planning work squads” to collect the tax even from
violators who had paid previous punishing fines and that officials in Bobai
County claim to have collected 7.8 million yuan in “social child-raising fees”
from February through the end of April.
Families who refused or could not pay the fines were forced to have their homes
searched and belongings confiscated. "Worst of all, the gangsters used hammers
and iron rods to destroy people's homes, while threatening that the next time it
would be with bulldozers," a local peasant calling himself Nong Sheng told the
Times. A Chinese student named Zhou told the UK-based Guardian that his family
received a fine of 2,000 yuan for having three sons in the 1980s, but his uncle,
who has five children, must pay an impossible 20,000 yuan. "He only earns 1,200
yuan per month ... But if you cannot pay, the officials come to your home and
confiscate the contents. If you refuse, then smash, smash, smash."
“Taking to the streets in protest is the only way the Chinese have of expressing
their opinion,” Steven Mosher, President of Population Research Institute,
commented to LifeSiteNews.com. Mosher was one of the first social scientists to
have access to China’s rural population in the early 1980s and exposed China’s
brutal abortion and sterilisation campaign as part of its one-child policy.
Mosher added that he had seen entire “prefectures and counties” rise up against
the one-child policy followed by the predictable heavy-handed government
response. “China is developing economically and there is a growing desire on the
part of Chinese for more freedom and part of the freedom they would like to
enjoy is the freedom to decide for themselves the number and spacing of their
children,” Mosher said.
However, the Chinese government responds to more to the influence of the United
Nations and International Planned Parenthood, which praise the one-child policy,
which has led to more than 40 million men in China unable to find wives, and
tens of millions of women and their unborn children harmed by forced abortions
each year. “The one child policy will have to end sooner or later because it has
been a disaster for China,” said Mosher. “So far 28 years into the policy [the
government] show no signs of recognising the obvious.”
Reports of the riots have reached western journalists at the same time as the
United States begins to hold high-level trade talks today with China over its
$232.5 billion trade deficit, which accounts for one-third of the US total
record deficit of $765.3 billion. The trade gap has angered a number of US
lawmakers although it is uncertain whether President Bush will address China’s
human rights abuses as China has warned the US not to “politicise” their
economic relationship.

Bill Mandating Pro-Homosexual, Bisexual, Transgender Material in Schools
Passes California State Senate
By Gudrun Schultz SACRAMENTO, California, May 25, 2007 (LifeSiteNews.com) - The
California State Senate voted yesterday in favour of legislation that would
require schools to portray homosexuality, bisexuality and transsexuality as
positive choices to children. SB 777 would affect all grades from kindergarten
to grade 12, requiring that textbooks, instructional materials and
school-sponsored activities refrain from any “discrimination bias” on homosexual
issues.
The bill states: “No teacher shall give instruction nor shall a school district
sponsor any activity that promotes a discriminatory bias against any person
because of a characteristic listed in Section 220. [Section 220 of the Education
Code includes “sexual orientation”.] No textbook or other instructional
materials shall be adopted by the state board or by any governing board for use
in the public schools that reflects or promotes a discriminatory bias against
any person because of a characteristic listed in Section 220.” The measure has
been called “sexual indoctrination” by parents and pro-family groups who have
expressed outrage that the state government would force blanket pro-homosexual
instruction on children without parental permission.
“Parents are angry at the Democrats for passing this school sexual
indoctrination bill and frustrated that Republicans did little to fight it,”
said Randy Thomasson, president of Campaign for Children and Families, a leading
California-based pro-family organization. “The notion of forcing children to
support controversial sexual lifestyles is shocking and appalling to millions of
fathers and mothers,” Thomasson said. “Parents don't want their children taught
to become homosexual or bisexual or to wonder whether they need a sex-change
operation. SB 777 will shatter the academic purpose of education by turning
every government school into a sexual indoctrination center.”
SB 777, authored by lesbian Senator Sheila Kuehl, is similar to legislation
vetoed by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger last session after it passed the
legislature. Additional changes to the Education Code put forward by the bill
include a definition of gender that is based on “appearance and behavior”
instead of a person’s physical characteristics. “‘Gender’ means sex, and
includes a person's gender identity and gender related appearance and behavior
whether or not stereotypically associated with the person's assigned sex at
birth.”
The bill also deletes the definition of ‘sex’ from the Code, which currently
reads: “ ‘Sex’ means the biological condition or quality of being a male or
female human being. “SB 777 is designed to transform our public schools into
institutions that disregard all notions of the traditional family unit,” said
Karen England, executive director of Capitol Resource Institute, a “This reverse
discrimination is an outright attack on the religious and moral beliefs of
California citizens.” According to the CRI, the bill’s policies have already
been implemented in the Los Angeles Unified School District. “In that district,
boys who perceive themselves as girls may enter the girls' locker room and
restroom,” said Meredith Turney, legislative liaison for Capitol Resource
Institute. “Teachers and school officials are required to hide the gender
identity of a transgender student if the parents are unaware of what's taking
place at school. This astonishing policy will be expanded to every school in the
state if SB 777 becomes law.”
While voting on the bill fell along party lines with Republicans opposed,
Campaign for Children and Families criticized Republican senators for failing to
speak out against the legislation during debate. SB 777 is currently in the
Assembly and will reach the Assembly floor sometime in August. Campaign for
Children and Families is urging California residents to contact Gov.
Schwarzenegger and the California State Legislature to ask that the sexual
indoctrination bill be rejected.

Pope Sells - World is Buying
On the shelves for just over one month, Pope Benedict XVI's latest book "Jesus
of Nazareth" has already sold more than 1.5 million copies. It has only been
published in a few of the scheduled 30-some languages expected. According to
Father Claudio Rossini, director of Libreria Editrice Vaticana, "the Vatican's
publishing house, "The diffusion of this book, before being a cultural and
commercial matter, is above all an ecclesial and ecumenical event."

The Social Security Administration's rankings, released each year just before
Mother's Day, are based on some 4.2 million Social Security card applications
from 2006.
Social Security began compiling the name lists in 1997. The agency offers lists
of baby names for each year since 1880 on its Web site:

presence!
3 When thou didst terrible things which we looked not for, thou camest down, the
mountains flowed down at thy presence.
4 For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the
ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, what he hath prepared for
him that waiteth for him.
5 Thou meetest him that rejoiceth and worketh righteousness, those that remember
thee in thy ways: behold, thou art wroth; for we have sinned: in those is
continuance, and we shall be saved.
6 But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy
rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have
taken us away.
7 And there is none that calleth upon thy name, that stirreth up himself to take
hold of thee: for thou hast hid thy face from us, and hast consumed us, because
of our iniquities.
8 But now, O LORD, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter;
and we all are the work of thy hand.
9 Be not wroth very sore, O LORD, neither remember iniquity for ever: behold,
see, we beseech thee, we are all thy people.
10 Thy holy cities are a wilderness, Zion is a wilderness, Jerusalem a
desolation.
11 Our holy and our beautiful house, where our fathers praised thee, is burned
up with fire: and all our pleasant things are laid waste.
12 Wilt thou refrain thyself for these things, O LORD? wilt thou hold thy peace,
and afflict us very sore?
